Rev. Daniel L. Warnes Senior Pastor
|
Rev. Daniel L. Warnes has served as the Senior Pastor of St. James Lutheran Church in Concord, North Carolina since June of 2009. He has amassed a broad range of experience during his 23-years as an ordained Pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. His experience includes: · pastoring a three-point parish in rural North Dakota · serving as an Associate Pastor on a large staff in Edina, Minnesota · serving as a Co-Pastor in a suburban community of Minneapolis in a congregation that grew from 1100 to 2000 parishioners during his 11-year tenure · serving as the Senior Pastor of Lutheran Church of Reconciliation in Wilmington, North Carolina Pastor Warnes also has experience as a group home counselor, has served as the Spiritual Director of the Eastern NC Via de Cristo Secretariat, as well as Vice-President of South Coastal NC Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. He is a past member of the Governing Board for Augsburg College. Pastor Warnes received his BA from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and the Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN. He has completed Healthy Congregation Consultant Training, Substance Abuse Counselor Training, and Stephen Ministry Leadership Training. He is the proud father of two adult daughters, Anna, 28, who is married and is a registered nurse in Omaha, NE; and Kaaren, 22, who is a senior at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. In July of 2010, Pastor Warnes married his best friend, Marianne. They reside in Charlotte, NC, where Marianne is a nurse midwife at Presbyterian hospital.

Mark Douglas Frye
|
Mark Douglas Frye has served as Director of Worship and Music Ministries/Organist since 2000. In addition to his responsibilities at Saint James, Mark is the founder and Artistic Director of the Cabarrus Chamber Singers, a 16-voice semi-professional chorus that presents numerous concerts each year. Mark has held similar positions as Director of Music and Organist since the age of 18 in Baptist, United Methodist, Episcopal, and Lutheran churches. Having served congregations in Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina, he has also served as Organist in St. James Cathedral, Innsbruck, Austria and St. Ursula's Basilica in Munich, Germany. In 2003, Mark conducted a 14-day European Tour of the Saint James Parish Choir where they were the visiting choir for High Mass in Saint Mark's Basilica in Venice, Italy; Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome; Melk Abbey in Melk, Austria; and in Saint Stephen's Church, Vienna Austria. In addition to serving as the guest choir for several High Masses, the Parish Choir presented full concerts in Germany, Austria, and Italy. Mark's professional engagements include the American Guild of Organists, National Association of Pastoral Musicians, Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, the American Choral Director's Association, and the Royal School of Church Music. Mark did his undergraduate work at the University of South Carolina where his major was Music Education. While at USC he studied organ with William H. Bates, voice with Tonya Currier, and choral conducting with Larry D. Wyatt. Mark also received a degree in Organ Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC. His teachers at UNCSA included Jack Mitchener, Erica Johnson, and Timothy Olsen. Mark is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Choral Conducting from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC where he is a student of Dr. Katherine Kinsey.

Wade Rouzer Director of Youth and Family Ministries |
Wade Rouzer joined St. James in November 2008 as the part time Youth and Family Life Director. He attended Wake Forest, Wingate, and graduated from Catawba College in 1967. He returned to school after 40 years in a family business, Rouzer Motor Parts in Salisbury and Lexington, and graduated in May 2008 from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary with at Master of Art in Religion concentrating on Christian Education and youth ministry. He and his wife Peggy have one son, four daughters and nine unbelievably wonderful grandchildren. |

Shelia Mullis
|
Shelia Mullis has been an employee of Saint James Lutheran Church since 1989, as a part-time receptionist/secretary and then in October, 2005, as the full-time Parish secretary. Married 38 years to Sam, they have three children; Sam II, Sarah, and Shawn (deceased) and four grandchildren. She is a member of McGill Baptist Church in Concord where she sings in the choir and rings handbells. |

Margaret Pruette
|
Margaret Pruette has been with the Saint James preschool since 1998, working first as a classroom teacher until 2004 when she became the director. Prior to having her two children, Graham and Hillary, Margaret taught in the Cabarrus County school system for four years. She is married to Taylor Pruette. Margaret grew up at Saint James where she has been a member 30 years. |

Marsha Scott
|
Marsha Scott joined Saint James in December of 2005. She is originally from Memphis, Tennessee, and has lived in Cincinnati, Nashville, and Louisville. In 1985, the Scott family moved to Concord, hopefully for the duration! Marsha received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Memphis (go Tigers!), and completed initial coursework toward the Master of Science degree in Business Management. In 2004, she achieved the Group Benefits Associate designation offered through the Wharton School of Business by the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist program. Her career path included positions at: Federated Department Stores; the Kentucky Council on Economic Education; Hinrichs Financial Group; Barry, Evans, Josephs & Snipes, Inc.; and Hinrichs Financial Corporate Benefits. Marsha is marred to Allen Scott, Environmental Services Director of the City of Conocrd. They have two children, Mark and Angela. They attend McGill Baptist church where Allen previously served as Minister of Education/Youth. In her leisure time, Marsha enjoys creative writing, crocheting & knitting, directing & acting in church drama programs, singing in the choir, ringing handbells, and co-teaching the Lydia-Dorcas Sunday School class. |

Malinda Barbee Church Hostess/ Wedding Director Email Malinda

Malinda Barbee, a life-long member of Saint James, coordinates church social functions by preparing and coordinating meals and other events. In addition to serving as Church Hostess, Malinda also serves as the Wedding Director and directs all weddings that are held in Saint James Church. |
