Youth

YOUTH MINISTRY

Welcome to a place where we celebrate that the words of God are in the mouths of young people! Right there -- in their daily words and deeds -- God’s life-giving love and God’s power for re-making the world are found. Jeremiah was a young person who thought he totally lacked the right qualifications and the necessary courage, but God propelled him, and filled him, for announcing a new reality and a new community.

God is still propelling and filling young people, calling them to sing of a new way to be human, beyond Abercrombie and beyond the same old same old. In Jesus, God has broken into the brokenness of the world and called us to a new way of wholeness, justice, and peace.

In the real lives of young people -- young people who have been called into life with Jesus -- this new way is shouted out and acted out, for the church and for the whole world.

Welcome to a place where we are listening to and striving to amplify the voices and the songs of young people!

ANNUAL SERVICE TRIP

One of the highlights of not only our Outreach Ministry at St. James, but also our Youth Ministry Program is our annual Service Trip.  As of this summer, this will be the 19th year, except for 2 or 3 years, that our youth and adults have been making a difference in the lives of those who need our skills in places like Washington, D.C., Kentucky, West Virginia and Alabama.  It has been a life changing experience for many of our members and their friends as we have repaired homes and shared our love for making a difference in Christ's name with folks all over the Southeast.  There are no words adequate to express the joy we receive by the outpouring of generosity by those who house, feed and take care of us in some of the most economically challenged areas in our country.  Jesus is the glue that holds us all together and makes countless miracles happen on these trips!

SCOUTING AT SAINT JAMES

St. James Lutheran Church is blessed with a rich Scouting tradition. Originally chartered in 1929, BSA Troop 91 is celebrating continued greatness and teaching our youth about God's great outdoors!  Click on www.troop91concord.com for more information on the Scouting program.
